Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort (and Beach Club Villas)

The Yacht & Beach Club are adjoined resorts that almost mirror each other. The Beach Club is a tribute to the New England beaches and the Yacht Club to the harbors. Connecting these two resorts are shared dining, convention, and pool areas. The pool is called Storm a long Bay and is a mini water park in itself.

The dining options range from the formal Yachtsman Steakhouse, to the 50's Beaches and Cream, to a clam bake buffet at Cape May Cafe, add in the Yacht Club Galley and Hurricane Hanna's poolside bar.

These resorts are both a short walk from EPCOT and a mild walk to the Studios. Friendship launches also do both routes. The rest of Walt Disney World is connected via bus. There is a joint marina where you can rent various watercraft, schedule Fishing Excursions, fireworks cruises, or just cruises in their flagship boat, the Breathless.

In the early 2000's the Beach Club added an expansion called the Beach Club Villas which are a Vacation Club property that offers large rooms and suites.

The Geek's Thoughts & Suggestions

These two resorts are the Geek's favorite resorts at WDW. I have stayed at the Beach Club (94, 2004) and the Yacht Club(96, 98, 2000, 2002) and once you combine the amenities, location, restaurants, etc… you will be hard pressed to find a better resort on property. We were also able to experience the concierge service at both.

First lets start with location. The Yacht & Beach Clubs are located between EPCOT and the Disney Studios. The resort is connected by boat to both, and is within walking distance of EPCOT International Gateway entrance and the Studios. Also this section of WDW seems to be much more laid back than the Magic Kingdom area resorts. The lobbies of the resorts seemed much calmer to me.

Next let us look at dining. One of the Geek's favorite restaurants is the Yachtsman Steakhouse. The food and service are both outstanding. For other dining options you have EPCOT's World showcase within walking distance and Disney's Boardwalk resort is located right across the lake. So there are many great restaurants located really close to these resorts.

If you decide to stay at the Yacht or the Beach Club you will be picking a great resort. The next question is which do you want to stay at. The Beach Club is located closer to EPCOT. The Yacht Club is a bit further away. The rooms are equivalent in both. Each resort has its own lobby and guest services. We have grown fond of the Yacht club in recent trips. Its just a personal preference though.

We also have experienced the concierge service at both Resorts. The Yacht Club's lounge was larger and seemed more formal to us than the Beach Clubs, but as a tradeoff the Yacht Club has more rooms on the floor than the Beach does.

The Beach Club underwent a major renovation project in the early 2000's and all is finished. The Yacht Club started a similiar process in 2004.

Our room was on the second floor from the top and starts about the middle of the shot with the small balcony facing to the left, then comes around on the right to the third set of windows (to the right of the second small balcony).

Looking at the entrance way..

You walked around the corner and there was a hallway (with the windows on the left) and the bathroom on the right).
