Park Miles:

This section is sponsored by the folks over at Sierramountainworks.com the geek's official adventure travel gear suppliers.

On this page we are going to keep track of themepark miles that we walk, some distances between places, and distances traveled by others.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

5/02/08 6.14 13,415 8.5 Started off this great Friday afternoon heading for Disneyland. Strolled down Main Street, around the hub, and into Tomorrowland via the walkway between Matterhorn and the backside of Buzz. Walked by the subs and the monorail and then turned around and headed toward Small World and into Toontown. Made the loop of Toontown and then walked back through Fantasyland and around the Big Thunder Trail, stopping at the ranch. Continued on along the Rivers of America and out to Critter Country, looped back and walked through New Orleans Square and Adventureland on my way back to Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz and hiked up the ramp to Innoventions. I walked back out to Small World to catch the pre-parade, but still had 15 minutes to kill so took the train back to Tomorrowland and then wandered out to Main Street and caught the Prince Caspian pre-parade there. Next up over to DCA. Walked through Condor Flats stopping to grab a Fastpass for Soarin and then continued around GRR and out to the Pier. Something was set up in the Cove but no indication of what. I decided to give one of the Food and Wine demonstrations a try but I had a few minutes to kill still so walked up the Pier a bit to grab some Toy Story Mania shots then back to the Wharf for the demonstration. After the session I made the full loop of the Pier first walking by the Corn Dog Castle, Burger Invasion, etc.. around to the Sun Wheel. When for a spin and then continued on past Screamin and back to the Bay Area and through Bugsland. Decided to hike over to Disneyland to catch the 4:30 Flag Retreat and then back to DCA for dinner at Taste Pilots before the Parade. After the parade roamed around the park and stopped by another demonstration out in the Wharf for a few minutes then walked over to the Backlot. Walked past Muppets and Monsters and stopped in the Animation Building for a while. Next up strolled through Condor Flats and over to the Grand Californian. Got my construction shots and then headed through Downtown Disney and back to Disneyland. Made my way back to Tomorrowland and caught a little of the Instant Replay set, while waiting to get on Buzz, which was down. Gave up and spent some time walking around the Castle taking pictures and then through Plaza Gardens and into Frontierland. Noticed there was no line for Pirates so went for a cruise then hopped on the train and rode around to the front of the park. Walked over to DCA now that it was dark and hiked out to the Pier to see what was lit up on Toy Story Mania, not much. Took some pictures then found a place to watch the Electrical Parade. About half way through the parade I headed for the trams so I could catch the fireworks from the garage, did that then headed home.

4/11/08 7.97 17,418 8 I started off this perfect spring afternoon heading for DCA. I walked through Condor Flats, grabbing a Fastpass for Soarin, then continuing on past GRR, stopping to look at the new bridge which is finished then the work going on at the mill before heading out to the Pier. Walked past Screamin and Midway Mania. I bypassed the Sun Wheel due to a line that was longer than my patience and I finished up the loop of the Pier and headed into the Wharf Area to check out the Food and Wine Festival happenings. Spent some time roaming around the Wharf, Farm area, and winery before heading over to the Grand Californian. I paused in the lobby a while to listen to the Piano player and cool down a bit, it was a warm afternoon. Then I grabbed some pictures of the DVC work and then it was out to Downtown Disney and over to Disneyland. Roamed down Main Street USA and passed the lineboard on my way into Adventureland. Circled Pirates and then walked along the Rivers of America and the Big Thunder trail into Fantasyland. Got some pictures of Jingles (the lead horse on the Carrousel that has been dedicated to Julie Andrews. Then it was off to the Small World Mall. Grabbed a couple shots over the wall and then of the parade. Walked passed the Matterhorn and through Tomorrowland, grabbed a Buzz Fastpass and back to Main Street and over to DCA to try and catch a couple of the demonstrations for the Food and Wine Festival. Then back to Disneyland for the Flag Retreat and to hang out on Main Street a while. Decided it was dinner time so grabbed something to eat at the Taste Pilots Grill and then found a spot to watch the Pixar Play Parade. After the parade circled the Pier again and went for a spin on the Sun Wheel since it was a walk on. I ended up doubling back and walking past Screamin again and ended up in the Wharf area and caught a little of another Food and Wine Festival demonstration on Pasta. Then it was back to Disneyland. Walked through the crowds lined up for the parade and ended up heading for Toontown. Circled through Toontown and then back through Fantasyland and around the Castle. Walked through Plaza Gardens and around Big Thunder and back through Fantasyland. Stopped by the Tomorrowland Terrace and caught a little of the Sandbox set before heading back to the hub and castle for a couple pictures. The sun was almost set so I wandered back over to DCA. Walked down the Backlot circling past Monsters then Tower before stopping at the Animation Building for a while. Then walked back to the entrance area and out to the Pier to get some shots of the Midway Mania lights. Walked out past Screamin and Midway Mania and then the Orange Stinger and back to the Bay Area. Decided to use my Soarin Fastpass then take in a bit of the Electrical Parade before heading back to the parking structure. Caught the fireworks from the garage then headed home.

3/28/08 9.40 20,555 8.5 I started off this comfortable afternoon heading to California Adventure. I strolled through Condor Flats, around GRR, and out to the Pier. Walked by Screamin and Midway Mania on my way to the Sun Wheel. Went for a spin around the Sun then continued my loops of the Pier. Walked through the Wharf area and the farm and through the Winery (I missed the film this time around). Caught a little of the Miner 49ers in front of Bugsland and then headed over to the Grand Californian for some pictures of the on going DVC work. After taking the pictures walked through Downtown Disney, strolling through the World of Disney, then headed over to Disneyland. I wandered down Main Street and around the Hub. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz then headed back to DCA to see about getting into the 3:15 Playhouse Disney, it was full, so I took a look around the Backlot then back to Disneyland. Stopped on Main Street for a while to see if there was going to be a pre-parade with the new car, I did not see it, so I continued on down the street and into Adventureland. Walked through the crowded avenue then cut through the River Belle Terrace and into Frontierland. I walked around the Big Thunder trail and into Fantasyland, then out to Small World and a loop of Toontown. Cut across the parade route and walked around the Matterhorn and into Tomorrowland. Walked back through the Hub and over to Frontierland. Stopped by the Golden Horseshoe to catch some of the Billys 4:00pm show then wandered down Main Street to watch the Flag Retreat. After the retreat I headed over to DCA and grabbed dinner at Taste Pilots Grill then walked aout to the Pier to watch the Pixar Play Parade. Once the parade had concluded I stopped by the winery to try and catch the Seasons of the Vine. The CM informed the half dozen of us waiting that the last show was at 5 (it was now 6). So I headed back to Disneyland and Tomorrowland. I stopped by Innoventions to see what was, nothing was. Then I headed back to the parade route and caught the pre-parade coming down the street with the new car. Took a couple pictures then walked through Fantasyland and out to the Small World Mall to try and get some better shots of the car. After the car had passed I walked back through Fantasyland and around the Big Thunder trail. I took some pictures of the Fantasmic light rigs as I walked along the Rivers of America. I noticed Haunted Mansion was a walk on so went for a ride. After visiting with the Happy Haunts I circled through Critter Country then back through NOS and Adventureland. Headed over to Tomorrowland and caught a little of the set at Club Buzz. It was finally dark so I headed back to DCA and out to the Pier to get some night shots. Circled by Screamin again and then around the Toy Story Mania area. Once I had my fill of pictures it was back to Disneyland. I noticed no real line for the train so I hopped on at Main Street and rode around to Tomorrowland. Caught some of the Tomorrowland Terrace set before walking through the hub, Frontierland, and the Fantasmic masses to find a spot for the show. Watched Fantasmic then out to Main Street to catch Remember. After the fireworks back to the tram, car, and home.

3/14/08 8.31 18,166 8 Started off this mild afternoon heading for Calfiornia Adventure. Walked down the parade route and out to the Pier area. Walked around by Screamin and then around Toy Story Mania (the walkway is open again). I stopped by the Sun Wheel and the line was longer than what I had the patience to wait for so I kept on going past the Orange Stinger and back to the Bay Area. Strolled by GRR, stopping to take some pictures of the new bridge, then continued on through Condor Flats and down the Backlot. Made the loop and then waited to see if there was any shot of making it into the 2:30 Playhouse Disney. There was not, I was too late. So I walked over to the Grand Californian to take pictures of the work going on there, then out to Downtown Disney, and over to Disneyland. Wandered down Main Street USA, stopping for pictures at Bob Gurrs new window, then the Lineboard before finding my way into Adventureland. The Jungle Cruise line was too long for me, so I continued on to NOS. I noticed the Mark Twain was in port so I headed over there and went for a trip around the Rivers of America. Once back on the mainland I headed for Fantasyland by way of the Big Thunder Trail. Circled through Fantasyland and then out toward Toontown. Walked through Toontown then doubled back to the train station and hopped on to get to Tomorrowland (and by pass the parade). I next headed up to the Monorail for a round trip ride then decided it was time for dinner so walked past the Matterhorn, through the Castle to Fantasyland and grabbed a pizza at the Village Haus. After dinner walked back through the Castle and out to Main Street. Strolled down the street behind the Disneyland band and then stopped to watch the Flag Retreat. After the ceremony it was time to head over to DCA and find a spot for the Pixar Play Parade. I watched it from the Esplanade and then cut through Condor Flats, around GRR, and along the Parade route and managed to beat it to the end of the parade and was able to watch it again from near the Maliboomer. After the parade walked over to the Sun Wheel and went for a trip around the sun. After my trip I walked by Toy Story mania and then around to the Bay Area. I decided to head back to Disneyland, so walked around GRR, through Condor Flats and over to Disneyland. Walked down Main Street and checked out the line board and then went to Tomorrowland. Caught a part of the Steller set at Tomorrowland Terrace before going into Innoventions. Then headed back through the hub and over to Adventureland. Went for a trip through the Jungles on the Jungle Cruise and once back in civiliation went back to DCA for some night shots of the Toy Story work. After taking my fill of pictures it was back to Disneyland. I looped through Tomorrowland and then through Adventureland and out to NOS to find a spot for Fantasmic. After the show I joined the masses exiting the park and hopped a tram back to the car and headed home.

3/08/08 8.06 17,027 12 Started off this picture perfect Southern California morning heading for the Grand Californian to get some pictures of the DVC work. After that entered DCA and had to wait a couple minutes for the rope drop. Walked past GRR, stopping to look a the new bridge and then continued on through the Bay Area and out to the Pier. Walked past MM, the Orange Stinger, and around the Sun Wheel. Went for my trip around the sun to grab some pictures of the Toy STory work then circled back and around to the side by Screamin. Next I headed back toward the parks entrance by way of the Wharf/farm and over to Disneyland. Entered a fairly busy Main Street USA and stopped by the Line Board to see how things looked before proceeding on into Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass of Buzz and hiked up the ramp and into Innoventions. Walked by Nemo and then out to Fantasyland to check out the work there. Decided to grab some lunch at the Corn Dog Wagon on Main Street, grabbed another Buzz Fastpass, then I headed back to Fantaslynad and I continued on around the Big Thunder trail, stopping for a few minutes at the ranch. Strolled along the Rivers of America and out to Critter Country. Made the loop and walked back through NOS. Stopped to listen to the Pirate band that was playing on the Island and then walked through Adventureland to check on the line for the Jungle Cruise. It was longer than my tolerance so walked around the Hub a bit, Plaza Gardens, then stopped by the Disneyana store before going back over to DCA. I walked down the backlot and made the loop past Tower and Monsters. Caught the end of the High School Musical show in the entrance plaza and then back to Disneyland. Hiked out to Toontown, made the loop then walked back through the hub and over to Frontierland. Circled by the Jungle Cruise again, grabbed another Buzz Fastpass and then decided to stroll through Downtown Disney to see what was going on. Spent some time at the ESPN Zone checking out the scores then walked back to the parking garage. Grabbed some clothes for later in the evening and took the tram back to Disneyland. Walked down Main Street and out to Fantasyland. The line for Casey Jr did not look too bad so hopped in it. After 15 minutes we moved maybe 15 feet so bailed out of that slow moving line and strolled through the Big Thunder trail and over to Frontierland. Went for a trip on the Mark Twain. Once back on dry land headed for Main Street to grab a snack and then find a spot to catch the Navy Band from Washington DC that was performing in front of the castle. After the show it was over to DCA and dinner at Taste Pilots Grill. After eating headed over to Bugsland and went for a spin on Fliks and a ride on the Chew Chew train. Then strolled through the Wharf and out to the Pier for some night shots. Decided to check out the wait for Monsters, which was still too long so headed back to Disneyland to use the Buzz Fastpasses. Along the way spotted Mickey on Main Street so stopped for pictures. After Buzz it was back to DCA to line up for the DEP (we found a great spot just a few minutes to parade time). After the parade it was back to the Mickey and Friends garage where I caught the end of the fireworks then headed home.

2/23/08 6.40 13,988 8 Started off walking across the Pinochio parking lot and over to the Disneyland Hotel. Walked through the Lobby then circled the ground before heading toward Downtown Disney. Stopped by the Rain Forest Cafe gift shop then headed up to the monorail station. There was at least a two maybe three monorail wait (and since only one was running) I made a u-turn and walked through Downtown Disney. Decided to head to DCA first. I strolled down the backlot, circled by Tower and then over to Monsters Inc. There was no visible line so decided to go for a ride (there ended up only being about 10 people in front of me in line). After riding walked back toward the entrance and then took a left to the Farm area. Circled Bugsland and walked toward the Wharf. Stopped by the Bread Tour for a sample and then continued on to the Pier. Walked around past the Orange Stinger to the Sun Wheel. I was next to get on and they said there was a problem and closed the attraction. I waited around a bit but then gave up and doubled back and around to the other side of the Pier (due to the Toy Story work you have to walk all the way around to get to Screamin). Took some pictures there then walked through the Bay Area and past GRR. Saw there was no line at Taste Pilots so grabbed an early lunch (it was around 11:30). After lunch I doubled back to the Pier and the Sun Wheel was running again so hiked out there and went for a spin. After my trip around the sun it was back through the Bay Area and past GRR on my way to the Grand Californian. Stopped by to check out both construction projects then walked out to Downtown Disney. Next up Disneyland. I strolled down Main Street USA and checked out the line board. I saw there was a crowd at Plaza Gardens so I stopped by there for a minute then cut through Frontierland on my way to Adventureland. Walked through Adventureland and out to the Rivers of America. I saw the Mark Twain was in so headed that way, I was out of luck they were shutting down the attraction. The CM said there was a problem on the River so the both boats would be down for a while. I could not see anything and the Canoes and Tom Sawyer Island rafts kept running. I walked along the River and out to Critter Country. Then I circled back and hopped on the Train. I rode to Tomorrowland and then walked through Tomorrowland, past the Castle and into Fantasyland. It was starting to drizzle so I made a u-turn and headed for Frontierland. I ended up hanging out in the shops in Frontierland a bit waiting for the cell to pass. The Mark Twain pulled in and guests were allowed to board this time so I went for a trip around the Rivers of America. Once back at port I walked the Big Thunder trail and back to Fantasyland. It was almost 2:30 and time for the Billy Hill show so I headed back to Frontierland and caught the show. After the show the rain had started again so I headed off to Adventureland and caught the Tiki Room. After the show the rain had stopped so I strolled out to Toontown. Made the circle and then back past Its a Small World. The parade was just going by (due to the weather it was rolling along, no stops this afternoon). I was stuck so I walked back through Fantasyland and the Castle to get to the hub. After the parade pasted I headed for Tomorrowland. I stopped by Innoventions and cuaght the Asimo show. After the show headed back to Main Street. I decided to grab a hot dog then head down to Town Square for the Flag Retreat. Due to the weather it was just the recorded show, no Dapper Dans or Disneyland Band. The rain started to pick up a bit. After the retreat I called and checked on the weather and was told more rain was on the way so I decided to call it an early evening and head home.

Made one more swing past Monsters before heading out by the Pier to watch the Electrical Parade. After the parade walked past GRR and through Condor Flats to exit the park and head to Disneyland. Spent some time trying to get some good shots of the lights in the Floral Mickey at the entrance then wandered around Main Street for a while. Ended up in Tomorrowland and stopped a Club Buzz to see who was performing. Only lasted through one song before heading back to Main Street. 1/26/08 4.20 9,179 5 Started off this great day heading for Disneyland. Roamed down Main Street and around the hub. Strolled into Tomorrowland to check out the Nemo line (which was too long) so continued on to Small World. Hopped on the train and rode around to NOS. Walked on Haunted Mansion and then back through New Orleans to grab some shots of the Dream Suite/former gallery area now that the walls are down. Headed back to Main Street via Adventureland and over to DCA. Walked through Condor Flats and past GRR on my way out to the Pier. Took a right turn and walked around to the Sun Wheel where I went for a trip around the sun. After my ride spent some time looking around the Toy Story Mania walls and then walked back to the Bay Area and decided to grab some lunch at Tast Pilots Grille. After walking through the hotel it was out to Downtown Disney and then back to Disneyland. Spent some time on Main Street taking some pictures and then went to Advnetureland. Cut through the walkway between Tomorrowland and the Matterhorn back to the Castle. Took some pictures there and then strolled down Main Street and back to the front of the park. 1/13/08 5.86 2:55:54 9:30 Started off this picture perfect Southern California day heading for Disneyland. Wandered down Main Street and around the hub on my way to Tomorrowland to grab a Fastpass for Buzz. Walked by the never ending Nemo line and the Matterhorn and out to Small World Holiday. Went for one last cruise before the attraction goes down in a couple weeks until November then out to Toontown to see what was happening. Circled back through Fantasyland and around the Big Thunder Ranch. Continued on along the Rivers of America. Saw Pirates was a walk on so went for a ride. Once back in NOS, headed for Adventureland and then over to DCA. Grabbed a Fastpass for Soarin and continued on to the Bay Area and out to the Pier. Walked to the right and around to the Sun Wheel to get Toy Story Mania pictures. Since the walkway was blocked off due to the work had to walk all the way back and then around to the left to get shots from near Screamin. Walked back to the Wharf area and through the Farm. Ended up in Condor Flats and Taste Pilots Grill for lunch. After lunch used my Soarin fastpass then stopped by the Grand Californian and then walked through Downtown Disney.
