On this page we will have an archive of old TV listings from 2005.

All times are PST and all shows are on The Disney Channel unless otherwise noted.

December 5-25, 2005

Hello again, everybody!

As I said last time, dont'cha just love the holidays? All of those beautiful lights and decorations up everywhere, lots of bargains in the stores (if all those mobs of people don't beat you to them first), and most importantly, lots of shows about the Disney theme parks! I mentioned a whole lot of programs airing soon in last week's post (if you missed that post, not to worry, I've got those shows listed again below), and it turns out that we've got some additions this week. We've got a new show on the Travel Channel that includes segments on some of our favorite attractions at the Disneyland Resort, additional airings of two shows about the holidays at Walt Disney World (both with very similar names) on the Food Network and the Travel Channel, and several airings of favorite shows about things to do and things that happen backstage at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you can't make it down to Anaheim or Orlando to take in the magic of the holidays Disney-style, this may just be the next best thing! Here's what's coming up. (As always, all times are PST and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted. Shows new to the listings are designated by an asterisk{*} after the description.)

November 29 - December 25, 2005

Hello everybody - yes, I'm actually back!!!

My apologies for being gone for so long, folks; I've spent the last several weeks traveling on one business trip after another, which didn't give me a lot of time to work on listings of Disney theme park shows on TV! Well, thing have finally settled down a bit (for now, at least, so I'm going to try and get back in the groove and bring you the listings again.

Looks like I picked a pretty good time to come back! We have all kinds of programs featuring the Disney theme parks coming up in the next couple of weeks. We have a couple of new shows about WDW on Food network for those of you who like to drool about all the yummy stuff they have to eat there (as opposed to others of us who'll just be drooling at the sight of WDW itself). We have specials featuring music at Disney as well as Disney music, almost a whole afternoon and evening of Disney theme park shows on the Travel Channel, and for you folks that like to get your Disney fix while you're brushing up on your Spanish, a Disney concert from a station based in Mexico. Last but certainly not least, we have everybody's favorite Christmas present from Disney - the Walt Disney World Christmas Parade, which is supposed to feature more coverage than usual from Disneyland in honor of its 50th anniversary. Dont'cha just love the holidays? Here's what's coming up. September 4-15, 2005

Hello again, everyone!

Hope everybody's been having a good Labor Day weekend! I'm celebrating the weekend the way many men do - by trying to avoid any labor! Specifically, I'm trying to avoid my lovely fiancée and her "honey do" list. I mean, just because I have three whole days off, that doesn't mean -- oh wait, she's coming! Be right back. (Paul ducks under desk. Paul's fiancée peeks in the room, and not seeing Paul, continues on.) Whew, that was close.

Anyway, there's not much to tell you folks about this time out. We have a couple of sitcoms featuring Walt Disney World, a couple of Travel Channel favorites featuring Disneyland and Walt Disney World, a show with a segment about WDW for you folks in the South, and that's about it. The new fall season can't come soon enough for me - I want to see some new shows! Here's what's coming up. (As always, all times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted.)

A. Shows Featuring Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

Tuesday, September 6, 7:00 a.m.: "Fan's Guide: Walt Disney World". Four groups of ultimate Disney fans show the ways they make the most of a Walt Disney World vacation and share their secrets for finding the best shopping and dining, the shortest lines, and the biggest thrills at the Florida parks and resorts.

Tuesday, September 13, 7:00 a.m.: ""Disneyland Resort: Behind The Scenes". Explore the world-famous California theme park and its California-themed sister park and have a look at rides and shows such as the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Indiana Jones Adventure, Soarin' Over California, and Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. Gain access to places seldom seen by the public, including Walt Disney's private apartment and a secret club in New Orleans Square.

B. Shows With Segments About Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

Saturday, September 10, 12:00 p.m., Turner South: Southern Living Presents - "Disney Stunt Show". The program about Southern food, travel, homes and gardens features segments on the "Lights, Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show" at Walt Disney World.

C. Shows Taking Place At Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

Tuesday, September 13, 12:30 p.m., ABC Family: Boy Meets World - "The Happiest Show on Earth". Cory heads to Walt Disney World with the hope of winning back Topanga, but she thinks he has other plans.

Thursday, September 15, 2:00 a.m., Nickolodeon : Full House - "The House Meets The Mouse (Part I)". The Tanner family visits Walt Disney World; Michelle is named "princess for a day", which leads to trouble between the sisters.

Thursday, September 15, 2:30 a.m., Nickolodeon: Full House - "The House Meets The Mouse (Conclusion)". Jesse & Jimmy have an unexpected visitor during their underwater radio show at Epcot; Danny proposes to Vicky.

Well, that's going to do it for now, folks! Now if you'll excuse me, I'd better sign off before -- oh, shoot. (Paul turns around in his swivel chair to find his lovely fiancée. He takes the "to do" list from her hand.) I'll get started on this in a minute, honey. (Fiancée kisses Paul and leaves.) Guess I'll be laboring today after all. Everybody have a good week, and I'll be back soon (if I ever finish this list, that is). Until then, take care everyone.

September 1-13, 2005

Hello again, everybody - I'm back!

First off, I want to apologize to all those folks who read my posts regularly for my absence last week - work has been, to put it mildly, overwhelming, and it doesn't look like things are going to let up anytime soon. I'll try to do my best to keep you informed of what's going on as far as Disney TV, but I'll let you know that it's going to be touch and go for the next few weeks.

Anyway, let's get down to business! Unfortunately, we're still a few weeks away from the start of the new TV season, so right now new shows about the Disney theme parks are about as rare as someone wearing a parka in Santa Monica or a gallon of gas with a reasonable price. :) I'm happy to announce that this time we have the first ever listing for a show about Hong Kong Disneyland. Now the bad news: Unless you subscribe to a satellite or cable system that offers Chinese-language programming or know somebody who does, you're probably not going to be able to see it. (If you have friends who have DirecTV and subscribe to their JadeWorld package, now's a good time to get REALLY friendly with 'em, folks!) Here's what's coming up. (As always, all times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted. Shows new to the listings are noted by an asterisk {*} after the description.)

Tuesday, September 6, 7:00 a.m.: "Fan's Guide: Walt Disney World". Okay, folks, that's it for the listings and that's it for me -- I'm off to bed so later I can be off to work! Everybody have a great Labor Day weekend - enjoy the sun, the fun, and your barbecues, but please take a moment to remember the less fortunate, such as the folks who've lost their homes on the Gulf Coast (who you can help by donating to the American Red Cross) and Jerry's Kids (who you can help by donating to the Muscular Dystrophy Association during this weekend's Jerry Lewis Telethon). I'll see you again...soon, I hope! Until then, take care, everyone.

August 9-18, 2005

Hello again, everyone!

It's early August, which means it's county fair time here in Oxnard! I love going to the fair every year; there's just so much to and see and do, like looking at the animals, entries, and exhibits, looking at the rides in the carnival (just looking, mind you - I wouldn't even even THINK about getting on half of the rides), and eating lots and lots of fair food. Actually, I'm beginning to think I may have already had a little too much fair food , because recently I've been getting queasy at the sight of anything fried, powdered, or topped with whipped cream. Well, I'm sure the feeling will pass soon. It had better - the fair ends Sunday and I still haven't had a deep-fried Oreo! ;)

If you can't get away to the fair or the beach or some other summer place, there's a nice variety of Disney park-related TV shows coming up in the next couple of weeks. There's not much to choose from, unfortunately, and very little of what's coming up is new; hopefully, things will get better as soon as the fall TV season gets going. Meanwhile, here's what's coming up. (All times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted.Shows new to the listings are noted by an asterisk {*} after the description.)

Host Samantha Brown visits the premier hotel of the Disneyland Resort, having breakfast with Disney characters at Storytellers' Cafe, getting a look at a large, exclusive, and luxurious suite, and joining a group of teenage hotel guests for some wild rides at Disney's California Adventure.

Hello again, everybody!

Sorry I'm late, folks. A friend of mine surprised me couple of days ago by letting me borrow her copy of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and I just haven't been able to put it down! I'm not quite done yet, but the book's been amazing so far. I still can't believe that -

July 26 - August 5, 2005

Hello, everybody -- I'm back!

Oh, what a vacation! My fiancée and I had a wonderful time down Disneyland way; The NFFC Convention was, as always, a whole lot of fun, we got to see the King Tut exhibit in LA (maybe not quite the event the original King Tut exhibit was 30 years ago, but still amazing), we spent a fun day at the Orange County Fair, and, oh yeah, had a great time spending July 17th at Disneyland! I had such a fun time that I'm not sure what I'm going to do on my next vacation to top it.

That's all very well and good, Paul, you say, but we don't want a trip report, we want a listing of the Disney theme park shows coming up! Your wish is my command, folks. We have a nice selection of your favorite shows coming up in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, there are no new shows coming up this time; look at it as an opportunity to read the new Harry Potter book - assuming you can get it away from your kids, of course. Here's what's coming up. (As always, all times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted.)

A. Shows About Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

July 4-15, 2005

Hello again, and a Happy Fourth of July, everybody!

I hope everybody's having a great three-day weekend; my weekend's been pretty busy so far- I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and do some overdue spring cleaning - but I'm going to make up for it by going to a concert of Disney theme park music at the Hollywood Bowl on the Fourth. I'm really looking forward to it! I wish some network would tape it and put it on TV, because there's not a lot of new stuff featuring the parks in our listings this time out. Hopefully, we'll see a little more TV coverage of Disneyland's 50th anniversary - the real one, not the promotional kickoff - in the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, here's what's coming up. Tuesday, July 12, 4:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Science Channel: Discover Magazine - "Fear". A program about one of mankind's most powerful emotions, how it affects us, and how we learn to overcome it features a segment on WDW's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. (Poster's note: Readers of these posts have indicated that the program may not feature the segment on WDW indicated in the description. If other readers watch the program and can confirm that this is the case, please let me know and I'll drop this program from any future listings.)

Tuesday, July 12, 7:00 a.m.: "Disney's Imagineers". Learn about the process behind the creation of attractions for the Disney theme parks, from initial concept and design to construction and testing, and explore some of WDW's most popular attractions, such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Wednesday, July 13, 7:00 a.m.: "Disney's Animal Kingdom." A visit behind the scenes of Walt Disney World's fourth and newest theme park. Learn about the challenges of combining thrill rides and live animals; also have a look at the secrets behind "Dinosaur!", featuring Disney's largest Audio-Animatronic figures.

And that's going to do it for this time, folks! Well, I'm sorry to say that this'll be the last time you're going to hear from me from me for a couple of weeks; next weekend, I'll be in Garden Grove, CA attending the NFFC's annual convention - if you see me and my lovely fiancée there, please stop me and say hi! After the convention, we're going to stay in the area for a couple of days - I seem to recall that there'll be something important going on that weekend at a theme park in Anaheim. :) For those of you who don't want to take a chance at missing a Disney theme park TV show while I'm gone, please have a look at Kirby Bartlett-Sloan's Disney Theme Parks TV for the Week website at http://www.bartlett-sloan.net/tv/. Thanks for reading, have a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend - please, folks, go enjoy a professional fireworks show in your area instead of lighting them off yourselves at home! - and I'll see you when I get back. Until then, take care, everyone!

June 21 - July 2, 2005

Hello again, everyone!

Well, folks, here we are - summer! Yeah, I know it seems like summer started around May 1, but we're not talking about summer sales and summer movies here, folks - we're talking about the summer solstice, the longest day and the day summer traditionally begins. I don't know if I can take the days being any longer than they already are - I mean, it's already way past 8 and there's still light out. I'm going to need to go to bed wearing sunglasses if this keeps up. :)

Anyway, even though the TV season has officially ended (maybe because it has, I don't know), we have quite a few shows about the Disney parks coming up. We have three shows featuring folks combining two summer traditions - Disney vacations and getting married (well, getting engaged, actually); we'll also have some of our Travel Channel favorites, as well as an episode of "America's Funniest Home Videos" that'll have a lot of us green with envy. No, not because we secretly wish that someday Uncle Ernie will get whacked in the groin with a Wiffle Bat. We'll be envious because three extremely lucky people will be competing for the ultimate Disney fan's trip - a visit to all 11 Disney theme parks! Here's what's coming up. June 1-8, 2005

Hello again, everyone - happy Memorial Day!

I've a got the day off and it's a beautiful day outside - so naturally, I'm spending the day indoors! No, I don't have anything against sunny days - I just got "A Musical History of Disneyland" from Disneydirect.com, and I'm having such a great time listening to it that the last thing I want to do is turn off the CD player and go outside. Definitely worth picking up a copy if you're a fan of the Disney parks, folks.

Geek's Note: I have to second this, it is a great set and if you cannot get to the parks, Disneydirect.com has the regular edition available and later this year Amazon will too. Also looking forward to the Disney Fishing show mentioned below. We have fished the various Disney excursions several times over the years.

Of course, you're not here to read about what I think about Disney theme park music CDs - you're here to find out when shows featuring the parks will be on TV! Well, folks, the pickings are a little light, but you'll be getting a little of everything this week - some classic TV shows, a couple of shows on the Travel Channel, even a show about fishing at WDW. Well, you can't complain about the variety, at least. Here's what's coming up. (As always, all times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted. May 2-16, 2005

Hello again, everybody!

We're down to the final days before the start of The Happiest Celebration on Earth - is everybody excited? I know I can't wait to get to the Disney parks to be a part of it. So much to see, so much to do, so much to buy! ;) Until I can get down to Disneyland to take it all in, I'm going to be looking for just about anything on the start of the festivities on TV and everywhere else in the media

Fortunately of me (and for all of us), there's going to be plenty of opportunities to see the parks on TV. There's going to be a lot of coverage of the kickoff of The Happiest Celebration on Earth; several TV programs this week are going to broadcast segments about the Park. All next week, Regis and Kelly will spend the week at both of the U.S. Magic Kingdoms. Throw in a couple of weeks of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" from Orlando, a few shows from the Travel Channel and a couple of programs on other cable networks featuring at least a segment on the Disney parks, and we've got a lot of good stuff to choose from in the next couple of weeks! Here's what's coming up. (As always, all times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted. Shows new to the listings are noted by an asterisk{*} after the description.)

A. Shows About Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

Monday, May 2, 7:00 a.m., and Thursday, May 5, 3:00 p.m.: "Walt Disney World Resort: Behind The Scenes." Explore the history and the inner workings of the Florida Disney theme parks in an in-depth, behind the scenes tour of America's favorite vacation destination.

Thursday, May 5, 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.: "Disney Cruise Line". A close-up look at the public areas and behind the scenes on the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder, including segments on the ships' planning, design and construction, visits to the galley, engine control room, a theatre hosting Broadway-style productions, the luxurious Walt Disney Suite, and a shore excursion to the Disney Cruise Line's private island, Castaway Cay.

Thursday, May 12, 7:00 a.m.: "Disneyland Resort: Behind The Scenes."Explore the world-famous California theme park and its California-themed sister park and have a look at rides and shows such as the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Indiana Jones Adventure, Soarin' Over California, and Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. Gain access to places seldom seen by the public, including Walt Disney's private apartment and a secret club in New Orleans Square.

B. Shows With Segments About Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa take part in The Happiest Celebration on Earth by hosting shows from Disneyland (May 11 and 12) and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom (May 9, 10, and 13).

Monday, May 16 - Friday, June 10 (ending date unconfirmed), syndicated (check local listings for time and channel): "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire." In honor of the Happiest Celebration on Earth, Meredith Viera hosts a series of shows from the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Play It!" soundstage at the Disney-MGM Studios. The programs include "Walk In and Win Week", where visitors to the theme park play "Millionaire" for a chance at a million dollars.

All right, everyone, that's going to do it for me this time. But in honor of Happiest Celebration, I've got a question for all of you! This year, we'll celebrating the 50th anniversary of not only Disneyland the theme park but also "Disneyland" the television series; we've had a lot of chances to visit the Disney parks via our TV sets over the years; a lot of folks have said that seeing Disneyland on TV inspired them to visit the parks for real. With that in mind, here's my question: Of all the Disney theme park moments you've seen on TV over the years, what's been your favorite and why? C'mon, don't be shy - we'd all love to hear from you! While I'm waiting to hear from you, I hope you have a good week. Until next time, take care, everyone!

April 26- May 16, 2005

Hello again, everybody!

We Disney fans tend to be a pretty upbeat bunch, but I can understand if a few of you out there might be a little down right now. I mean, here we are almost at the beginning of the Happiest Celebration on Earth, but you're not going to be at Disneyland or Walt Disney World on May 5th. It's not for lack of trying - you wrote your best essay about why you should be picked as the Happiest Passholder on Earth, you registered your AP on disneyland.com, and you even listened to that lame morning show on the radio day after day trying to win passes to one of the Disney preview parties, but no dice. Well, I can relate, my friends, because I tried all of the above, and I'm not going to be there either! But take heart, folks - even if you can't be in Orlando or Anaheim on May 4th or 5th, at least there are several times in the next couple of weeks that you catch a few glimpses of your favorite places in the world; enjoy watching the parks on TV and look forward to when you CAN be there!

So what have you got to look forward to on TV to tide you over, you wonder? Glad you asked. Things will be relatively quiet for the next week or so, but look for more shows about the Disney parks starting the first week of May and continuing, including visits to Disneyland and Walt Disney World by Regis and Kelly and a series of episodes of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" from the set at the Disney-MGM Studios. Here's what's coming up. (As always, all times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted. Shows new to the listings are noted by an asterisk{*} after the description.)

A. Shows About Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

Wednesday, April 27, 7:00 a.m.: "Disney's Imagineers." Okay, folks, that's going to do it for this time! I hope that getting to see the Disney theme parks and resorts on TV will get you through not being able to be in Anaheim or Orlando at the beginning of the 50th anniversary festivities. But remember - it IS only the beginning; you'll have plenty of opportunity to join the celebration in person! Until then, and until next time, have a good week, and I'll talk to you again soon. Take care, everyone.

April 19 - May 8, 2005

Hello again, everybody!

Yay - I'm finally back home from my business trip! I love to travel - I guess I haven't been on enough business trips to learn to hate them yet :) - but I love being back home even more, especially when the weather's as nice as it is right now in southern California. I hope the weather's just as nice where you are. If not, remember the old saying about April showers bringing May flowers and keep an eye open for the first blooms! ;)

Anyway, not too much to talk about as far as shows about the Disney theme parks - at least not yet; in a few weeks, we'll be seeing more shows with tie-ins to the Happiest Celebration on Earth at the Disney theme parks. There'll be a couple of weeks' worth of special episodes of the syndicated "Who Wants to Be A Millionare" (that's the one with Meredith Viera) from Walt Disney World (one of the tapings of which I got to attend - you know I'm looking forward to seeing that episode come on the air!); also, "Live with Regis and Kelly" will be hosting several shows from both Disneyland and Walt Disney World on the week of May 9 -13. I'm also hearing rumors about a special on Disneyland's 50th anniversary - nothing firm on that one just yet, though. I'll have more details about those programs as the ol' crystal ball provides them, but for now, let's take a look at what we know is coming up in the next couple of weeks.(As always, all times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted.
