Disney Holiday Section:
Welcome to the disneygeek.com Disney Holiday section. In this section you will find pictures from around the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort all decked out for the Holidays.

Let it Glow! Let it Glow! Let it Snow!

New to the holiday festivities this season is the Believe in Holiday magic Fireworks Show. A not to be missed Holiday experience. The best place to view this show is on Main Street, other prime viewing locations are the Small World Mall and the Fantasmic Area. If you are going to watch the show on Main Street be there early (between 15-30 minutes for a good space).

Geek tip: Watch your surrounds and try to make sure no tall people are directly in front of you, especially if you have little ones. Nothing can ruin a show like a giant standing in front of you. (Or even worse a kid on someone's shoulders.)

The Geeks thoughts on the show

If you watched this show by itself with no prior Believe experiences you would be totally thrilled. The synchronization between the fireworks and the music is incredible (even in a couple instances better than the original Believe). The finale of the show is a remarkable snow effect, which works pretty well (and for us transplants from the Midwest here in Southern California as close as we want to get to snow again. You have the great look of it, but do not have the mess or cold weather that goes with the real thing) is a great way to end your evening at Disneyland. Main Street looks great with the snow flurries and the Christmas lights all shining brightly. This show is a not to be missed Disney experience, and hopefully it will become a holiday tradition at the park.

(More Geek Rants)Now with all that said I do want to make a couple more remarks. Unfortunately I compare this show to the original Believe fireworks show, and like most sequels it falls short of the original. I saw the original Believe show almost a dozen times last summer during its run. Every show there were several of those "Disney moments" where the audience is left speechless and then applauds like crazy. With the holiday edition of the show there is only two such moments. One is the Nutcracker Suite, and the other is the snow effect at the end of the show. Which these two are good enough for most people, but the problem is I got "spoiled" with the original which had several such moments in it. I think the problem with the holiday show comes in trying to do too many different holiday songs in one show. Holiday music really does not blend as well as the classic Disney tunes used in the original show. I think they really mangled a song they love to play, Walt Disney World's "Remember the Magic". The holiday version was very hard for me to listen to. The woman singing sounded terrible to me, and it just killed the song (and the show opens and closes with this song). I would have liked it better to use the original song instead (or maybe got a different lead vocal for this version). Hey what can I say, I am the Disney Geek,a nd have become way too spoiled over the years. I have grown to expect the best from Disney, and this bothered me slightly. But it is still a really good show.
